On his new album release, Emancipator has cemented his place among the great artists blending live and electronic instrumentation. Artfully incorporating instruments into his downtempo electronic beats, Emancipator, aka Doug Appling, has produced the stunning new Seven Seas album.

The title is apt, as a listen to the album is akin to a voyage through various lands. Different instruments and influences drive each and every track, while the album maintains its free-flowing integrity as a whole. Working within an ambient soundscape, Emancipator once again delivers a thoroughly enjoyable slice of unque electronica music.

Since his debut in 2006, Emancipator has continued to expand the boundaries of his role as a producer. The talented composer will once again recruit an ensemble for his upcoming tour, which spans from the end of September through a majority of November, including a stop at the Best Buy Theater in NYC.

Take the first single released from the album, the title track “Seven Seas”, as an example. Opening with tantalizing percussion, a polyrhythmic layer of synths accelerates the track into a slow groove. Vocals from Madelyn Grant are haunting, adding a richness to a psychedelic tapestry of sounds. As the backing music rises and falls, so does Grant’s vocals, adeptly capturing enormous energy. The album slyly segues into the Eastern-influenced “1993”, and continues moving through unique instruments and worldly musical themes. Somehow, Emancipator has found the electronic counterpart to world music. The more closely you listen, the more you get from it.

Backed by ensemble, the new music of Seven Seas is sure to mesmerize in the live setting. Don’t miss this exciting tour coming up soon, and the exceptional new album release, Seven Seas.
