Delve into futuristic, psychedelic music with Long Island-native band TAUK on their second full-length LP, Collisions. Actively touring and producing music for the past four years, the band’s meticulous efforts shine through on the new album, which officially releases on July 22nd. The LP is a seductive blend of funk, jazz, and rock, with ten original, instrumental tracks that exemplify the band’s gifted musicianship.

TAUK has gained a steady following throughout the years in the music scene, having opened and performed with the likes of Perpetual Groove, moe. O.A.R., and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. The hard-working band is touring the country, tearing it up each night, and appearing at numerous festivals (Peach, Catskill Chill, and Bonnaroo, amongst many others). They’re also playing a show at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory this Saturday, so be sure to check them out.

If Collisions is any indication, TAUK is firing on all cylinders. The album’s opening track, “Friction,” lulls you into the TAUK-universe with a mellow synthesizer and a grooving bass-line. The guitar drops an entrancing melody, leading the session into unparalleled heights. The song drives and drives, leading into an awesome guitar solo that dominates the end of the piece. These guys are here, and they’re here to rock.

Each member of TAUK brings his own piece to the table, but its the cohesive fusion of all four members (keys, drums, bass, and guitar) that add a contemplative depth to every song. Certain peak moments, like the triumphant keyboard work in the song “Mokuba” or the tense guitar build in “On Guard,” demonstrate this band’s dedication to their craft. And they get there every time!

Collisions is a work of art, created by masterful musicians. The entire album flows melodically, despite the absence of lyrics. The music speaks for itself, as TAUK manages to invoke intrigue on every track. Whether its a subtly placed synthesizer melody in the background, or a strong, leading melody from the guitar, TAUK lure you into their futuristic vision with Collisions.

Be sure to catch the band at the Knitting Factory, this Saturday (7/19). Doors @ 10:30, Show @ 11… see you there!
