UPDATE: Turbo Suit is offering a full-length stream and free download of their new album, Out Here. Dig it:

Indianapolis-based livetronica band Turbo Suit is set to release their new album, Out Here, on March 3rd. The band formerly known as Cosby Sweater continues to tour ferociously, and their new album is rich with grimy electronic tones and hypnotic grooves. With guest appearances from Natalie Cressman, Umphrey’s McGee members Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins, and Andy Farag, Digital Tape Machine members Joe Hettinga and Marcus Rezak, and more, Out Here is a unique record that captures Turbo Suit’s infectious sound.

There’s a unique touch of magic that Natalie Cressman brings to all of her collaborations, whether showcased as a full-time member of the Trey Anastasio Band or sitting in with many prominent performing artists in the scene. Her partnership with Turbo Suit on the album’s opening track, “Rewind pt. 1,” is something special The track stands out as a blissful introduction, balancing soulful guitar fingering, hip hop verse, melodic chorus, and funk hooks. Cressman sits comfortably amongst this menagerie and immediately captivates the listener, flawlessly blending styles and nuances in this new and interesting branch of livetronica.

Turbo Suit’s Jeff Peterson’s patience on drums yields huge builds and drops, as the band journeys through funk/bass driven 8-bit valleys and mountaintops.  With David Embry (production and vocals) taking the reins and Nicholas Gerlach (tenor saxophone and EWI) standing just as close to the helm, this project is surely on the road of ascending sonic success.

Out Here also contains a strong presence from Digital Tape Machine guitarist Marcus Rezak, a virtuoso who appears on five of the album’s seven tracks. Rezak shares the spotlight with Umphrey’s McGee members Jake Cinninger on guitar and Andy Farag on percussion for “Rewind Pt. 2”. The superbly produced space/bass/jazz/lounge hybrid is an odyssey; the longest song of the album. And, in keeping with Turbo Suit’s ever growing report and kinship with Umphrey’s McGee, Joel Cummins joins the band on the final track of Out Here, “Karate.”

Be sure to catch Rezak as part of L4LM’s Stratosphere All-Stars concert, with members of Lotus, Seven Arrows, Particle, Gramatik, Kung Fu/RAQ and more.
