With the Catskill Chill Music Festival celebrating its final year at Camp Minglewood in Hancock, NY from September 18th – 20th, it would be remiss of us to not look back at the last five years of what is one of the best festivals in the country and acknowledge some of the incredible performances that have occurred during that time.

The Chill has provided those of us that have been lucky enough to attend the festival with a truly unique, camp-like experience, where we all fit under one “Chill Fam” title. Whether you are meeting new friends that are camping next to you, getting in on one of the many cabins with old and new friends alike, sharing in the groove at one of the various stages on site, or just walking around with a smile on your face from the amazing vibeover the course of the entire weekend, there aren’t many festivals out there that provide such an intimate experience, especially the kind that Camp Minglewood has provided.

As organizers keep future plans for the festival and its new location on the hush-hush, we still have this year to look forward to sending Minglewood out in style. Let’s take a look at just some of the many incredible performances that have taken place at the Catskill Chill since 2010 (in no particular order).

The New Deal (2014) – The second it was announced that The New Deal would be making a comeback and headlining the Chill, there couldn’t have been a bigger buzz, or a more fitting headliner for the festival. These were two highly anticipated sets that definitely lived up to the hype.

Lettuce (2014) – It’s Friday night and the best funk band in the world is headlining, enough said. Check out “Yakitori” from their explosive Friday night performance:

Particle (2013) – It’s not the Chill without Particle. These guys have played every year so far, and that is one of the things that makes this festival what it is, with several bands having made multiple return trips. It’s all about creating that “Chill Fam” vibe between both artist and attendee. Here is “Triple Threat”:

Keller Williams (2010) – Getting Keller on board to headline your inaugural festival is a good sign of things to come. You know that this one-man band is always going to provide a great time. Here he is performing “She’s My Something Else”:

Yonder Mountain String Band (2012) – Yonder is one of those bands that has the ability to transcend genres, and transcend they did (and still do, despite the departure of Jeff Austin in 2014). Their 2012 Chill performance will always be a highlight. Here they are performing “All The Time”:

ShwiKus Plays Parliament Funkadelic (2014) – This set was the culmination of all of those late-night cabin jam sessions over the years, and both Shwizz and FiKus will forever go down in infamy. On a side note, those late-night cabin jam sessions will be greatly missed….EPIC!

Dopadosio Covering Radiohead (2013) – When both Papadosio and Dopapod came out together to perform a late-night Radiohead set, it basically blew everybody in attendance away. Simply put, it was magical. Here is a triple play of “Airbag”, “Paranoid Android”, and “Optimistic”:

Umphrey’s McGee (2011) –  The hardest working band in the business. You never have to worry that these guys are going to disappoint; just another day at the office for the Umph. Here they are performing Pink Floyd’s “Breathe”:

Electron (2014) – This was a set that caught quite a few heads in the crowd by surprise, and in a very good way at that. With Marc Brownstein and company back on the lineup this year, it’s obvious they made an impression.

The New Mastersounds (2010) – This UK four-piece understands the meaning of vintage, as they have taken the soul-jazz genre and modernized it to fit into their own unique brand of funk. Here is guitarist Eddie Roberts ripping a guitar solo at the very first Chill:

Consider The Source (2013) – CTS is just one of those bands that you have to see at the Chill to fully comprehend how talented they are as a unit. Their sci-fi/middle eastern/psychedelic/progressive fusion description doesn’t even come close to doing them justice. Check out “Keep Your Pimp Hand Strong” and get an idea of what we’re talking about:

Twiddle (2014) – Catskill Chill was definitely on to these guys very early, and has seen the band grow from one of the up and coming acts to one of the main draws. Here is their full set from last year’s Chill:

??? (2015) Who will wow us this year? Most likely every band, consider how stacked this year’s lineup is!
