The final three Grateful Dead “Fare Thee Well” 50th anniversary reunion concerts start tomorrow! With Soldier Field in Chicago, IL expecting tens of thousands of Deadheads, L4LM decided to assemble all the information you’d need to celebrate the weekend in style.

GETTING THERE:

Public Transportation

With so many fans descending on Chicago, the main advice is for people to walk to the stadium whenever possible. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will provide extra bus and train service, with the Red, Orange and Green lines all stopping at the Roosevelt station and the Green line also stopping at the Cermak-McCormick Place station. These are the two closest stops to Soldier Field.

In addition, the CTA No. 146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus will be stopping near the venue. Not to mention the shuttles running to and from Reggie’s, which will be hosting several pre- and post- parties with Pink Talking Fish. Those shows are sold out.

The final trains will be leaving those stations at some point around 1:15-1:25 am, so don’t miss the last ride home!

Driving/Parking

The North Garage (underground) will be opening at 6 AM, with all other Special Event lots opening at 3 PM. However, if the parking demand is greater, the venue will be prepared to open the additional lots earlier. Overnight parking is not allowed.

Tailgating is allowed in all parking lots throughout the day, but open flames are not allowed in the North Garage since it’s an underground parking facility. Plan ahead if you’re planning to grill.

THE SHOW:

Times To Know

Anyone with a ticket will have access to the Soldier Field grounds beginning at 10 AM, with doors opening at 5 PM. There are five entry points to the venue, including three areas on the north along McFetridge Drive, and two areas on the south, one on the corner of Waldron Drive and Museum Campus Drive and the other at the Waldron parking lot. The grounds will also host a Shakedown Street.

The official showtime listed on the tickets is 7:00 PM, but no one’s actually expecting them to start on time, right?

If you aren’t attending but are planning to stream the shows, this article does a nice job summarizing all of the options. Between venues, movie theatres, and couch tours, there are certainly a lot of possibilities.
