PREMIERE: Grammy-Winning Reggae Crew Morgan Heritage’s Whimsical New Single “Pineapple Wine”

Jamaican-born ensemble Morgan Heritage has unearthed a way to infuse the sounds of pop, rock, country, R&B, and hip-hop music into their brand of reggae that they call “Rockaz.” Morgan Heritage’s name is duly cemented in the history of reggae and music as a whole, as critics, fans, and music lovers have anxiously awaited this new release. In the wake of their historic Grammy win for Best Reggae Album as the producer and artist of “Strictly Roots,” the culture-driven pop-reggae five-piece has managed to deliver yet another quality album, Avrakedabra.

“The album title was inspired by our love of history. Being that we are students of history, we discovered this word and its various pronunciations throughout the history of time. We chose it as the title of the album because we like it, and we feel it represents the new era that our career is about to enter. The meaning we will leave to the audience to decide, since we’ve discovered so many over the dispensation of time,” explain the band about the new album title, Avrakedabra.

Morgan Heritage recorded this latest album in an unorthodox manner, with recording sessions taking place across three different continents. This highlights the group’s effort to take reggae music to the farthest corners of the Earth. The album is full of surprise appearances throughout, with the first number, “Want Some More,” featuring Mr. Talkbox and reggae royalty/multiple Grammy Award-winning artists Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley appearing on “One Family.” Other modern reggae heavyweights like R. CityKabaka Pyramid, and Dre Island also appear on the album.

Live For Live Music is proud to premiere the newest single, “Pineapple Wine,” off Morgan Heritage’s Avrakedabra below. As the band explains, the sunny pop-flavored reggae tune is about “living life in a tropical setting on an enchanting island, exploring its oasis, and getting intoxicated on all it has to offer.” They continue, “When you can combine reggae and country music with a twist of Hawaii love, you’ll find the recipe for a sweet serving of Pineapple Wine.” Listen to their sweet new single below, and head to Morgan Heritage’s website for more information on the band and their new album here.
