On May 12th, Head for the Hills, the Colorado newgrass quartet, will release their latest album, Potions and Poisons. The album will be the group’s fourth studio album following the 2013 release of Blue Ruin. The group, composed of Adam Kinghorn (Guitar), Joe Lessard (Violin), Matt Loewen (Bass), and Sam Parks (Mandolin), has just released a brand new music video for “Bitter Black Coffee,” a track off the upcoming Potions and Poisons.

“Bitter Black Coffee,” which was written by Head for the Hills’ Adam Kinghorn, and its accompanying video is a mournful, longing ode to regretful nights with former flames and their repercussions come sunrise. The video for this latest release by Head for the Hills is shot in black and white and features shots of a man alone at a table, filmed from overhead, as time throughout the day passes; the members of Head for the Hills playing the wistful song together; and the woman who’s clearly on the man’s mind. The gritty video was directed by bassist Matt Loewen and produced by the band, making them the artistic force behind both the song and the moving video that evokes film noir in its stylings.

You can check out the Live For Live Music’s video premiere of Head for the Hill’s “Bitter Black Coffee” below along with the lyrics from the song. Pre-sale for Potions and Poisons ends this Friday, May 4th, ahead of its May 12th release so make sure to order your copy now here. Fans should also mosey over to the band’s website to get more information about the group, including upcoming tour dates.
