In honor of Lotus’ upcoming show with the New Deal opening, this Saturday April 18th at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville, VA, L4LM is excited to premiere Lotus’s remix of tND’s tune, “Mercury Switch.”

Lotus is currently on the road in support of their 2014 release, Gilded Age. Their stop this weekend with The New Deal is certainly going to be one for the ages, as both bands are firing on all cylinders, bringing those livetronica jams wherever they travel.

Jesse Miller of Lotus talked about his inspiration behind the remix, saying “We’ve been fans of the New Deal since we first heard their debut release, This Is Live. At the time there were almost no bands replicating these sort of electronic sounds with a live improvising band. They’ve been a leader and inspiration to Lotus and many other bands that incorporate the textures and beats of house and other electronic music styles into a live context.”

Miller continued, “It’s an honor to have them play with us in Charlottesville this weekend, and it was a lot of fun to remix ‘Mercury Switch.’ As with all New Deal material, the melody is a catchy, rhythmic synth line that works well over multiple chord changes. We went toward a more swinging house groove and added modular analog synth, guitar and Wurlitzer to give it a more Lotus feel.”
