As a gift to music lovers on Record Store Day, Cali-funk groove machine Orgone will drop their new single “Do What You Came To Do” this Saturday, April 16. Released through Colemine Records as a stand alone release, fans can find the new track on iTunes or vinyl 45, available for purchase through their website and at record stores nationwide.

In anticipation of the new release, Orgone is offering up a streaming serving of their funky single. Guitarist Sergio Rios spoke about the track, saying, “Co-produced with Mocky (of Jamie Lidell fame), “Do What You Came To Do” stems in large part from Orgone’s deep love for Lyn Collins era JB’s and Curtis Mayfield. It’s perfectly expressed in Adryon’s fiery call to show & prove and act “before the moment is gone”…to us, this is what soul music is about!”

According to Rios, this funky take is just the first of many to be released by the band in the coming months. Vocalist Adryon De León shared a bit more insight into the track’s origins. “The content stemmed from a conversation overheard by the producer, Mocky. I was speaking with Sam about some lady drama and buttoned it up by concluding “Consequences do not make a man…” And it was like a house on fire after that.”

We’re glad this song came to fruition, and can’t wait for it to be released on some fresh vinyl. Furthermore, Orgone’s latest full length album, Beyond The Sun (2015, Colemine Records) was re-released as a special edition double LP for vinyl lovers, back in February.
