Pete Shapiro has done it again, putting his Midas touch on yet another creative and spectacularly run event. While producing three nights of some of the most influential concerts in music history, the Grateful Dead’s final Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago, he also recreated his unique Jazz & Colors concept from NYC inside of Chicago’s Field Museum. This time, the event was appropriately Dead themed, with a massive display of GD history and Dead-inspired live jazz music throughout the museum.

“Jazz & Colors: Wave That Flag” was a success and a fitting way to kick off July 4th and day two of the Grateful Dead run. Prominent performers took on jazz interpretations of Dead songs throughout the museum, while attendees perused memorabilia from throughout the years and looked for their mail-order artwork.
