With the new Star Wars movie title just released, we couldn’t help but make some comparisons between Trey and those who wield The Force…

Trey feels disturbances in the Force more than most.

Red heads are more sensitive to thermal pain, and often require up to 20% more anesthesia when undergoing dental procedures. The explosion of Alderan was so disturbing to Anastasio that, when its echoes reached Earth the year 2000, it caused the first hiatus.

Trey’s midichlorean count is through the roof.

Those with red hair have elevated melanin levels, and also produce more vitamin D levels than the average. Those, as well as far more five minute guitar solos, than others, have shown powerful healing tendencies in those affected.

Trey wields a weapon that can cut through anything.

Like a light saber, Trey’s guitar tone has been proved to be able to cut through any solid or sonic barrier.  Though the Jedi code usually requires the knight to build their own weapon, Trey was forced to allow a regular human to build his favored axes, to keep from accidentally destroying reality.

Trey is one with the Force.  

Phish’s music has bound together an entire music scene, and Trey is at the heart of this.  His signature guitar style of epic build and release jams and introspective exploration flow through us and all around us, and give life meaning.

Trey is capable of using the Force to control the minds of those around him.  Through his prowess on his instrument he can completely befuddle the senses until the only thoughts and emotions that remain are those caused by him, and the music he makes.  Frequent exposures to Anastasio’s powers have left thousands with only one thought…more more more!!!

There is no try, but there is a Trey.

While other guitar players wonder whether a jam is possible , Trey has shown utter fearlessness in the face of uncertainty, plunging over musical cliffs secure in the knowledge that he has everything under control.

Trey can levitate.

The very forces of nature such as gravity are incapable of holding Trey.

A Jedi knows when to work with others.

Sure, Trey can move mountains with the power of his playing, but to truly accomplish miracles, he sees the value in being part of a group.

Trey is capable of flying effortlessly through epic space battles.

Nothing can shake the concentration of a true Jedi master.

We may never be able to truly prove that Trey Anastasio has a magical connection to the Force, but one thing’s for certain:  We hope he and his band mates are with us, always.
