Just a few weeks ago, Umphrey’s McGee returned to their hometown for a three night New Year’s Eve run in Chicago, IL. After opening up the run at the Riviera Theatre, UM spent 12/30 and 12/31 at the famed Aragon Ballroom, hosting a celebration for the ages with special guests, bust outs, balloons and so much more.

Among the many highlights from these shows was a performance of Rage Against The Machine’s “Bombtrack,” busted out by Umphrey’s for the first time since 2011 and the third time overall. With Kris Myers singing the lead vocals, the band needed some additional percussion accompaniment, and called on The Motet’s Dave Watts to get the job done! The Motet had opened the show, and Watts’ style meshed perfectly with Umphrey’s McGee for this wild cover.

Thanks to TourGigs and Umphrey’s, we’re delighted to share pro-shot footage of this exciting bust out performance. Check out footage of “Bombtrack” streaming below.

UM has a number of tour dates already set for 2017, including dates with Joshua Redman, Spafford, Greensky Bluegrass, and more. They’ll also be headlining at Red Rocks for three nights, and returning to Lockn’ and Summer Camp festivals this summer. You can see their tour schedule below, and head to their website for tickets and all other information.
