Suwannee Hulaween seems to bring out the best in the bands that play there. The String Cheese Incident always delivers special themed sets at the festival, while acts like My Morning Jacket, STS9, Anderson .Paak, and more all turned in classic sets at the 2016 edition of this special Halloween-weekend event. Fans seem to really connect with the festival, and it creates the perfect atmosphere for bands to come in and absolutely dominate their performances. That they turned to progressive-jam titans Umphrey’s McGee to open the festival with two huge sets is a testament to the festival’s commitment to bringing in high-quality headliners for their audience.

Umphrey’s McGee are one of the best touring bands in the country, delivering night-after-night of intense and precise rock music. They are a band that simply knows how to bring it, and when to bring it, and at Suwanee Hulaween they pushed all the right buttons. Headlining the festival’s opening Thursday night, the band wasted no time, opening with a fiery “Bathing Digits” > “Rocker Part 2” that set the tone for the rest of the evening. The band peppered their show with classics, with older tunes like “Blue Echo”, “Resolution, and “Wife Soup” all getting trotted out in the first set, before “Cemetery Walk”, “Mulche’s Odyssey”, “Nothing Too Fancy”, and “Ocean Billy” all ruled the second set.

Now, thanks to YouTube user TheSoberGoat, we can re-live Umphrey’s McGee’s impressive performance at Suwannee Hulaween in all of its glory. See below for the full video of both sets from this awesome night.
