It’s no secret that there are a ton of summer music festivals to choose from, but when all is said and done it tends to be the grassroots festivals that get the best feedback. Certain things that people say to describe such events: “intimate”, “great vibe”, “family friendly”, “not-to-be-missed”, “my favorite time all summer,” etc. You get the point. One such festival that keeps to that grassroots vibe, yet continues to expand with an ever-impressive lineup is The Werk Out Music & Arts Festival, set to take place at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH from August 6th – 8th.
What started out as a super small gathering with host band The Werks in 2009, in its sixth year the festival is bringing it’s best lineup to date, all the while still keeping things tight-knit. Showcasing music from across the spectrum, expect multiple sets from The Werks, Umphrey’s McGee, Papadosio, and Dopapod, as well as performances from Lettuce, EOTO & Friends, Break Science, Zach Deputy, The Floozies, Tauk, the Nth Power and a slew of other musical talent.
Rounding out the lineup will be sets from PGrass (featuring Brock Butler of Perpetual Groove), TAUK, Ekoostik Hookah, The Main Squeeze, Consider the Source, Turbo Suit, The Mantras, Earthcry, Buku, and several others. It’s a lineup that any jam head will enjoy, and we haven’t even discussed the venue yet…
Legend Valley Concert Venue and Campground is trulya legendary place, as it has hosted acts such as the Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, Marshall Tucker Band, Jimmy Buffett, AC/DC, the Dixie Jams which included the Allman Brothers, Ricky Skaggs, and more, Hookahville, All Good and the Lollapalooza festivals since it began throwing events back in 1978. It is a unique venue that provides for the ultimate festival experience. The Werk Out is definitely a festival that should be on your radar this summer.
