On Saturday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band brought their Wheels of Soul Tour with Hot Tuna and The Wood Brothers to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO for the first of two evenings. Another night of synergetic musicianship was spread across the board, with special guest performances from keyboardist John Medeski throughout the night. The twelve-piece powerhouse delivered an outstanding mix of originals and covers, executing their authentic interpretations of songs old and new.

The first half of Tedeschi Trucks Band’s set stuck to their originals, ranging from their New Orleans-esque “Don’t What It Means” to their beloved “Midnight In Harlem.” Jefferson Airplane‘s “3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds” welcomed members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady of Hot Tuna. Keyboardist John Medeski joined the fun for “Bound For Glory,” a cover of Sleepy John Estes‘ “Leavin’ Trunk,” Miles Davis‘s “Ali,” and the band’s original “Let Me Get By.” The encore welcomed The Wood Brothers for a cover of “Let Me Roll It,” by Wings, which was only debuted last week.

The Wheels of Soul Tour will return to Red Rocks tonight, Sunday, with John Bell from Widespread Panic.
