Technology and music have certainly evolved together over the past century. Starting from the invention of microphones, through jukeboxes, eight-track recorders and the digitalization of music files, technology has played a critical role in the production and presentation of music. The latest innovation from Amsterdam is thoroughly eye-catching.

At this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, a brand new system called 4DSOUND will be showcased. The system allows for the musician to position sounds within a three-dimensional landscape (with time being the fourth dimension). Of course, this type of equipment requires the appropriate space, and a bevy of speakers, but the effects are bewildering.
