UPDATE: Unfortunately the video footage of the incident has since been made private. Rest assured, this situation did actually happen, and it was both hilarious and terrifying.

Trouble broke out at last weekend’s Widespread Panic performance at the Phases Of The Moon Festival, as a crazed fan rushed the stage and scuffed with drummer Todd Nance in the face. The whole incident was captured on video, and can be seen below:

The guy hops on stage and briefly eludes some stage technicians, winding up near Todd Nance. He steals a drumstick and whacks Nance in the face. While Nance walks off the stage, the techs finally managed to apprehend the crazed fan.

Meanwhile, guitarist Jimmy Herring smoothed over the situation by playing an impromptu “Help Me Somebody.” You can see the full WSP set list below:
