This year’s Bestival, in Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight, had an unusual feature – amnesty bins, which allowed fans to dispose of any illegal substances without being hassled by security or police. When it was all said and done, those bins contained upwards of $40,000 in illegal drugs.

The bins cut down on illegal drug crime, but still, another $32,000 in illegal drugs were confiscated from fans within the festival grounds, leading to 62 drug offenses. Somehow, this was a 12% decrease in crime between this year’s and last year’s Bestival.

Bestival sported a diverse lineup, with Outkast, Major Lazer, Chic ft. Nile Rodgers, Beck, Foals, Disclosure and more, and was held from September 4-7. The theme was “Desert Island Disco.”
