[UPDATE 1/23]: Billy & The Kids have announced the theme for their upcoming 4/20 performance, “Spring 1990 Revisited.” Just days after Grateful Dead drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart perform with The Disco Biscuits at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Kreutzmann will lead his Billy & The Kids band through a revival of the Dead’s later era.

As previously mentioned, Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic will be performing with the group – a nod to the famous Branford Marsalis appearance during the Dead’s 1990 performance at the Nassau Coliseum, which later appeared on the live album Without a Net. By all accounts, this looks to be one hell of a performance.

Last year, drummer Bill Kreutzmann announced the formation of a new band, Billy & The Kids. Formulated from the drummer’s performance with the “Locknstep Allstars,” which was a last-minute replacement for Bob Weir, the Billy & The Kids band played a handful of shows in 2014, including a performance at the famed Warren Haynes Christmas Jam.

Kreutzmann will keep things interesting in 2015, as he brings his band of Tom Hamilton, Reed Mathis, and Aron Magner to Denver’s Ogden Theatre on 4/20. Additionally, Big Gigantic saxophonist Dominic Lalli will join the festivities.

The show comes just days after Kreutzmann, along with fellow Dead drummer Mickey Hart, will be performing with The Disco Biscuits at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. That show is scheduled for April 17th. Tickets for the Billy & The Kids concert will go on sale this Sunday at 10 AM Central.
