In less than two weeks, Brooklyn Comes Alive will take over Brooklyn, bringing a bevy of unique super groups, tribute sets, and one-time-only jam sessions that the unique multi-venue festival has become known for. This year, across September 23rd and 24th, Brooklyn Comes Alive will host tribute sets to the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, Jamiroquai, and Herbie Hancock; unique one-off bands like moe.queous and Pow! Pow! Power Trio!; and jams led by Eric Krasno, George Porter Jr., Skerik, Dave Harrington, and more. On top of all that, there will be late-night sets from a variety of artists, including DJ Premier & The Badder Band, The Crystal Method, and KJ Sawka.
One set that we’re particularly stoked for is Bitch! Women of the 90’s—a tribute set to the high-profile female rockers of the 1990’s on Saturday, September 23rd. The charismatic songstress Hayley Jane of Hayley Jane & The Primates will lead this performance, channeling some of her favorite female 90’s pop icons for what is sure to be a crowd-pleasing tribute. For Bitch!, Hayley Jane will be joined by Kung Fu’s guitarist Tim Palmieri, bassist Chris DeAngelis, and drummer Adrian Tramontano, as well as by keyboardist Richard James of Pink Talking Fish.
With this stacked lineup led by one of the strongest female vocalists in our scene today, Bitch! Women of the 90’s is sure to be one of many can’t-miss sets at Brooklyn Comes Alive. Ahead of her upcoming performance, Hayley Jane told Live For Live Music, “The idea of performing songs that were the soundtrack to my adolescence thrilled me. It’s a chance to pay tribute to the women who helped me discover my truth by singing theirs.”
You can watch this video of Hayley Jane & Kung Fu covering “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at Disc Jam Music Festival to get a taste of the energy that’s to come. See you all at Brooklyn Comes Alive!
