A few months ago, former Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir abruptly cancelled all of his tour dates without any specified reason, causing waves of concern throughout Deadhead communities. The only person to share any information was Weir’s friend Tim Flannery, who posted a note saying that Weir was just taking some time off from the road.

Thanks to a report from Jambase, we’ve learned that Weir has been announced as a speaker for the 16th SF MusicTech Summit in San Francisco, on November 11th. The event “brings together visionaries in the evolving music/business/technology ecosystem, along with the best and brightest developers, entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, journalists, musicians, and organizations who work with them at the convergence of culture and commerce. We meet to do business and discuss, in a proactive, conducive to dealmaking environment.”

Weir isn’t the only famous musician to speak at the summit, as former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain is also on hand. However, a majority of the speakers are involved in the music business, including the founder of Bandcamp, and the CEO of Weir’s TRI Studios, Chris McCutcheon.

Hopefully this is an indication that Weir is feeling up to his old self, and will come back to tour again soon!
