After Bill Kreutzmann’s second to last stop on his book tour, at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, the Grateful Dead drummer was greeted by some surprise visitors: former bandmate Bob Weir, as well as Steve Kimock and Reed Mathis.

The brief set opened with some improv which lead into “The Other One” and concluded with “Cassidy.”

It was Weir’s second appearance at the venue in two days, as he performed with Willie Nelson’s son Lukas Nelson the previous night.

Amongst other projects Mathis plays with Kreutzmann in Billy & The Kids. Kimock’s Grateful Dead roots go way back, playing with Kreutzmann in the Rhythm Devils and more recently Weir in RatDog.

Kreutzmann will wrap up his book tour with co-author Benjy Eisen at The Chapel in San Francisco this Sunday, May 31.
