This past week, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood kicked off their extensive fall tour with a string of shows across the South. The tour started off with a two-night stand at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday and Friday before the group hit Macon, Georgia, on September 16th and New Orleans last night. During the group’s second night at the Variety Playhouse, the band was in proper form, playing a characteristic mix of covers and originals, including from their recently released album, Barefoot In The Head. During Friday’s performance, one of the highlights of the evening was The Chris Robinson Brotherhood’s debut of “Only Daddy That’ll Walk The Line”, a cover written by Jimmy Bryant and made popular by Waylon Jennings in 1968.

Ahead of their fall tour that kicked off on September 14th, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood also appeared on PBS’ beloved bluegrass program, Bluegrass Underground. The show is recorded in the Volcano Room of the Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee, and the Brotherhood’s segment was recorded back in March. Like the majority of their touring this year, the program served as promotion Barefoot In The Head, with the group opening their Bluegrass Underground set with “Behold The Seer” off their latest album—at the time, it was the live debut of the tune, though now the number has become a staple of their recent live shows. After moving through “Shadow Cosmos” and another live debut, this time of “Good To Know” also off Barefoot In The Head, the band wrapped up their mini television appearance with the fan-favorite “Rosalee.”
