Talking Heads frontman David Byrne has taken a shining to the music of African funk musician, William Onyeabor, and assembled a supergroup tribute to the 80’s musical sensation, entitled Atomic Bomb!

William Onyeabor is perhaps best known for his song “Better Change Your Mind.” He released eight albums from 1978-1985, before becoming a born-again Christian. From 1985 until today, Onyeabor not only retired from the music industry, but refuses to publicly discuss his work entirely. According to Wikipedia, it is thought that Onyeabor currently works as a taxi driver in Ireland.

The supergroup lineup includes Money Mark, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), Luke Jenner (The Rapture), Devonte Hynes (Blood Orange), Joshua Redman, The Lidaju Sisters, Ghostpoet, and Sinkane. The supergroup has four scheduled shows: on May 2nd and 3rd at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in Brooklyn, NY, May 6th at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA, and May 8th at The Greek in Los Angeles, CA. More dates are expected.

Ticket information for the concert can be found here. Should be an awesome performance!
