The David Grisman Sextet will release a new, self-titled album on Friday, June 3rd. “Dawg music”–an acoustic blend of many styles and traditions–has been around since David Grisman‘s famed quintet recorded their first album in 1976, and this new album continues to build upon his rich, exploratory tradition. Prepare for an eclectic tour through Grisman’s world of music, as “the tunes and arrangements offer the widest range of influences from swing and jazz to bluegrass, latin, funk and even old-time and ragtime!”

The Sextet is made up of classic Grisman band members Jim Kerwin (bass), Matt Eakle (flute), and George Marsh (drums), with new members Chad Fanning (fiddle) and George Cole (guitar) joining the fray alongside Grisman and his mandolin.

We’re looking forward to checking out the latest chapter for Grisman and his “dawg music”!Â
