Dead & Company wrapped up their two-night stand at the 1STBANK Center last night, continuing their smoking hot fall tour with a show for the ages. After 15 consecutive shows with tour debut material, Dead & Company played their first without bringing out any new ones. Sufficed to say, they’re settling in quite nicely.

Dead & Company’s Oteil Burbridge Shares His Grateful Dead, John Mayer Experiences

“Hell In A Bucket” kicked off the show, with Bob Weir delivering the song’s powerful vocals. The song seemed to set the pace for the first set, with a number of rocking, vocally-driven songs like “Brown-Eyed Women,” “Feel Like A Stranger,” “Fennario,” and “Little Red Rooster.” John Mayer nailed the leads in a dreamy rendition of “Bird Song,” before the set came to a close with a rockin’ “The Music Never Stopped.”

Set two continued to bring some of the classic Grateful Dead jams, including numbers like “Truckin’,” “He’s Gone,” “Eyes of The World” and “Lady With A Fan/Terrapin Station.” This particular version of “Eyes” was on point, as John Mayer’s guitarwork lifted the band to new heights. Colorado will do that to you, after all.

After a tripped out “Drums/Space” segment, the band rejoined for the slow-tempo number “Stella Blue,” before ending the set with the classic 1-2 punch, “China > Rider.” Fans got one more chance to declare their love, as “Not Fade Away” left those in attendance chanting “love is real, not fade away” into the night.

Another fantastic Dead & Company tour in the books! The band takes the night off for Thanksgiving, before heading to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV for two nights on November 27-28.
