The Disco Biscuits called on Grateful Dead drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart for an epic performance at the storied Red Rocks Amphitheatre last night. Amidst snow and hail, the Biscuits played three sets in Colorado, including a noteworthy second set of Grateful Dead covers with the band’s drummers.

After the first set, a four-song exploration that included “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.,” “Basis for a Day,” “Caves of the East,” and “Spraypaint,” the Biscuits brought out the Dead drummers and guitarist Tom Hamilton (JRAD/American Babies/Billy & The Kids). With Jon “The Barber” Gutwilig handling most of the vocals, the second set was entirely Grateful Dead covers. “Jack Straw,” “Terrapin Station,” and the trio “Help on the Way” > “Slipknot” > “Franklin’s Tower” made this performance certainly one to remember.

Interestingly, the Biscuits broke out two Dead covers in the third set as well, playing “I Know You Rider” and “Casey Jones” without any special guests. They closed the show out with “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad,” a classic Dead tune.

The Biscuits close out their four-night run tomorrow at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO tonight, while Billy & The Kids (ft. Bill Kreutzmann, Tom Hamilton, Aron Magner and Reed Mathis) hits the same venue on Monday. Check out the setlist below, courtesy of tDB’s Facebook page:
