Recently departed legend Prince was, as a matter of principle, against the idea of contracts throughout his career. This reluctance toward legally binding documents has given way to some chaos in the wake of his untimely death in April. Since he had no official last will and testament, several parties have come out of the woodwork to attempt to lay claim to control of Prince’s massive estate. One such claim came in early May from Carlin Q. Williams, an inmate at at Colorado prison, who claimed to be Prince’s biological son. If that turned out to be the case, Williams’ claim for control of the Prince estate would have trumped the various claims being entered by Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, as well as several half-siblings and a possible niece and grandniece, for a piece of the assets in question.

However, according to an AP report yesterday, the results of a recent paternity test have come back negative. As of now, Williams has been unavailable to comment on the test results, although his mother, Marsha Henson, remains skeptical of the results, responding to the AP’s request for comment by saying, “I don’t believe that. I think they’re positive.”

Williams has been claiming he is Prince’s kin for years, even launching a hip-hop career under the moniker Prince Dracula. However, with this controversy now out of the way, it appears the Williams’ connection to the artist goes no farther than their stage names.

Curious to what this Prince Dracula’s music sounds is like, we looked up his official Reverb page, which reads: “I’m a vocalist, lyricist, for Prince Dracula ft. The Yng Boys and Producer, Manager, For We Are 90% Family Members. I Am Prince (rodger nelson) aka Prince The Singer’s Son.Born 04-08-1977 In Leap Year. Mr. Carlin Q. Williams.
