Eddie Vedder was the surprise guest at the Sonics Record Store Day performance at Seattle’s Easy Street Records. The show was a celebration of this year’s Record Store Day and a benefit for Seattle’s public radio station KEXP.  You can watch Vedder join in with the Sonics for the Motown original “Leaving Here,” a song that will feature on the Sonics new album.

Vedder had previously covered the song for his 1996 benefit Home Alive, after hearing a rendition of it by the Who.

In addition to surprising guests, Vedder picked up a copy of Citizen Dick’s “Touch Me When I’m Sick 7”, a special release inspired by a fictional band from the 1991 film “Singles” which included Vedder on the drums, other members of Pearl Jam and Matt Dillon as lead singer.

Next month, Vedder will join Pete Townshend for a celebration of the Who at Chicago’s Rosemont Theatre on May 14th for a charity concert that will help raise money for teens with cancer and other local children’s charities.
