After teasing a major announcement for months, the Electric Beethoven band is finally bringing their jams to the people. Billed as the first-ever “Classical Dance Music” band, the new project is the brainchild of bassist Reed Mathis, and features a lineup that includes Jay Lane, Cochrane McMillan, Todd Stoops, and Clay Welch.

The band was recently announced on the Catskill Chill lineup after being introduced to the world on the Jam Cruise lineup, but today the band has announced two shows coming up next week. The band will make their first-ever performance at the Phil Lesh owned Terrapin Crossroads venue on August 2nd, where they’ll debut “CDM interpretations of Beethoven’s finest works.” Tickets go on sale at noon, and can be found here.

Just a few days later, Electric Beethoven will host the “Electric Beethoven Acid Test” as an official attraction in Outside Lands. The sold out festival will feature the band on the GastroMagic Stage next Saturday, August 6th, at 4:00 PM. The “Acid Test” theme is obviously a throwback to the Grateful Dead, who hosted these types of events in their formative period in the Bay Area as well.

As the band says in their announcement, “Get on the Ludwig Van!”
