Eminence Ensemble Brings The Local Flavor Back To The Fox [Photos]

Local Boulder/Denver based face-melters Eminence Ensemble came into the Fox Theatre for their sixth headlining gig at the historic Boulder venue, and with the first firing notes, everyone knew the time was near and mission clear. The sextet brought along many friends, including Will Trask (RunniKine), and the Lady and the Gentlemen horn section for a sit in on “Can’t Hide Love,” destroying their interpretation of the Earth, Wind and Fire tune.

Guitarists Taylor Frederick and Justin Neely do an incredible job at sharing the lead role, and viciously traded-off solos throughout the entirety of the barn-burner. The show started off on a unique note, with a cover of the short Judas Priest rocker “Hellion.” Taylor Frederick was hot out of the gates with the cover, firing off notes like a machine gun. If you recall, back in 2012 ,Frederick won the “I Wanna Be In Moe.” contest, and joined moe. onstage at the Palladium in Worcester during their NYE run 2012.

With such a heavy rhythm section, accompanied by bassist Zac Flynn, drummer Tanner Bardin, and percussionist Nick Baum, it’s hard to stop this 6-man train once the wheels start rolling down the track. Keyboardist Johnny Bosbyshell adds the perfect touch, and the band proved their seniority in the Colorado music-scene, tackling both new and old material all night long.

The band debuted three songs last night, two of them being original, “Before You Settle Down” and “Flamethrower.” After weaving in and out of Eminence Ensemble favorites to an extremely responsive crowd, the band decided to throw an enormous curveball, and encored the show with a mind-blowing cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Over the Hills and Far Away.” If last night’s show is any indication of the direction this band is headed, definitely mark your calendars for the next time they visit a city near you!
