Lots of announcements from the Foo Fighters today, who have otherwise been off-the-radar for a while. Dave Grohl and company have just announced a brand new album on the way, Concrete and Gold , due out September 15th via Roswell Records / RCA Records. Following up the band’s 2014 Sonic Highways and 2015 EP Saint Cecilia, the upcoming eleven-track Concrete and Gold record marks the band’s ninth studio album. According to a press release, the new album, produced by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia, and Pink), is where “hard rock extremes and pop sensibilities collide.” Grohl describes the new project as “the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement… Motorhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper’s… or something like that.” The Foo Fighters previously previewed this latest studio effort with the Grohl’s self-directed video for the lead single, “Run,” which debuted on the first of the month.

Grohl explains that CAL JAM 17 manifests his desire to throw a “backyard party for 50,000” and will take place on October 7th in San Bernadino, California. In addition to the other rock-oriented acts tapped for CAL JAM 17 — including Queens of the Stone AgeLiam GallagherThe KillsJapandroidsCage the ElephantRoyal BloodWolf Alice, and more — the festival will boast carnival rides, an outdoor movie theater, a water park, and more.
