Former pop star Gary Glitter has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexually abusing three young girls between 1975-1980. Gary Glitter, who goes by Paul Gadd these days, is said to have shown no remorse for the crimes he committed by presiding Judge Allstair McCreath.

Paul Gadd has been found guilty on charges of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of having sex with a girl under the age of 13. The 70-year-old showed no emotion as he left the courtroom.

Judge McCreath stated, “You did all of them real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind,” He also told Gadd that it was clear that his victims, “were all profoundly affected” by his abuse of them.

Gary Glitter is a former glam-rock singer-songwriter and musician. He rose to fame  in the early 1970s with hits such as “Rock And Roll, Parts One & Two” and “I Love You Love Me Love.” He continued to climb the charts in the 1980s and 90s with 26 hit singles in the UK. However, his career tumbled in the late 1990s for criminal conviction for possession of child pornography and now, even more so for the new multiple sexual assault conviction.

Judge McCreath stated that he was limited to the maximum sentencing limit that was used at the time that the crime was committed, so he was unable to impose a life-sentence. Gadd denied the allegations against him but was found guilty after the three week trial regardless.
