Glastonbury, one of the biggest festivals in the world held annually in Somerset, England, has announced that they will no longer allow nitrous oxide in its King’s Meadow (aka Stone Circle) area, a place notorious for attendees doing drugs.

A statement from festival organizer Liz Eliot explained,

“It’s become known as a place where people take nitrous oxide, a damaging drug which pollutes our beautiful field with noise, litter and N2O gas (a greenhouse gas which is 298 times more polluting than carbon dioxide). Nitrous oxide is also dangerous: an exploding canister was the source of a major injury at last year’s Glastonbury.”

Last year, nearly 5,000 lb of nitrous oxide canisters were picked up from the festival grounds. Organizers wish to restore the Stone Circle to its original purpose: a place representing the major stars of the constellation Cygnus.

Glastonbury will take place June 24-28. Check out the full lineup here.
