Te Smokin’ Mule tour made its way to the Brenton Skating Plaza in Des Moines, IA, returning with the same musical formula of Blackberry Smoke opening, Gov’t Mule headlining, and a Smokin’ Mule collaboration for the final encore. Last night, it was Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr who got the call after a fine Mule set, joining the band for two songs in the encore: “Jesus Gonna Be Here” by Tom Waits and “Jesus Just Left Chicago” by ZZ Top.

Mule’s set itself included a number of classic tunes, including “John The Revelator,” “Banks of the Deep End” and more to get things going. They included “Soulshine” in their set, as well as more fan favorites like “I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home,” “Inside Outside Woman Blues #2” and so many more.

The Smokin’ Mule tour concludes this Friday, August 25th, with a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre that also includes moe. You can catch the full Mule setlist from last night, posted below.Â
