It’s official! The Grateful Dead Core Four, which includes guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh, and drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, will be reuniting for a three show run at Chicago’s Soldier Field over July 4th weekend. The shows will mark the band’s celebration of their own 50th anniversary, having formed in 1965. According to the press release, these will be the last shows that the core four ever play together.

Joining the group will be Trey Anastasio on guitar, Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, and Bruce Hornsby on piano. Considering these shows will be almost exactly 20 years after the Grateful Dead’s last-ever shows, these performances are bound to be something special.

Tickets will go on sale on January 20th, at which point a first come, first serve mail-order system will be in place. Then, a Grateful Dead pre-sale will begin on February 12th, and a general on-sale will begin on February 14th via Ticketmaster.
