Last night, jam-grass road warriors Greensky Bluegrass continued their current tour with another sold-out stop at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, MN, after celebrating St. Paddy’s day the night before in Milwaukee. As always, the band delivered a captivating set highlighted by top-to-bottom skilled musicianship, charismatic showmanship, and creatively ‘grass-ified takes on old favorite tunes.

The band opened the show with Little Milton original “That’s What Love Will Make You Do,” followed by “Can’t Stop Now.” Next, opener Cris Jacobs joined the band onstage for a pair of covers, including Bill Monroe‘s “Working On A Building” and The Wood Brothers‘ “Luckiest Man.” You can check out fan-shot footage of “Working On A Building” with help from Cris Jacobs, below, courtesy of YouTube user Wilmon Benson:

Greensky followed the sit-in with takes on “Living Over,” “Room Without A Roof,” and “Burn Them,” before closing out the set with a top-notch “Broke Mountain Breakdown” that segued into “Forget Everything” from 2014’s If Sorrows Swim before returning to the “Breakdown” from whence it came.

Set two opened with a non-stop sequence that saw the band deliver sterling versions of “Doing My Time,” “Dry County,” and “Leap Year” before paying tribute to Pink Floyd with a pair of Dark Side Of The Moon tracks (“Time” > “Breath (Reprise)” and, finally, returning returning to the “Leap Year” theme. Well-played renditions of “Merely Avoiding,” “Jesus On The Mainline,” and “Windshield” came next, followed by “Just to Lie” > “Hold On.” Greensky closed the set with one of the show’s undeniable highlights–a Phish-y cover of Traffic‘s “Light Up Or Leave Me Alone” that featured a “Tweezer Reprise” tease with the lyrics to “Weekapaug Groove” sung over it.
