The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 16 nominees for the 2014 class of performers. Here is the list:

1. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band – third nomination (2012-2014)

2. Chic – eighth nomination (2003, 2006, 2007-2009, 2011, 2013, 2014)

3. Deep Purple – second nomination (2013-2014)

4. Peter Gabriel – first nomination (2014)

5. Hall and Oates – first nomination (2014)

6. KISS – second nomination (2010, 2014)

7. LL Cool J – third nomination (2012-2014)

8. The Meters – third nomination (1997, 2013, 2014)

9. Nirvana – first nomination (2014)

10. N.W.A. – second nomination (2013-2014)

11. The Replacements – first nomination (2014)

12. Linda Ronstadt – first nomination (2014)

13. Cat Stevens – second nomination (2006, 2014)

14. Link Wray – first nomination (2014)

15. Yes – first nomination (2014)

16. The Zombies – first nomination (2014)

To be eligible, an artist must have released their first record at least 25 years prior to the  date of induction. Yes, that does mean that LL Cool J’s first album came out over 25 years ago. The Hall typically inducts 5-7 performers each year.
