With recent bad weather and Hurricane Joaquin approaching, the Homegrown Music Network has cancelled their 20th anniversary festival celebration. The statement says that the festival could potentially become a life-threatening situation, and the organizers decided against taking that risk.

You can read the full statement below:

“It is with our deepest regrets that we must cancel this weekend’s Home Grown Music 20th Anniversary Festival. Extreme wet weather has been hitting our state hard for more than the past week and with hurricane Joaquin expected to impact our weather even further this coming weekend, we feel that this could become a potentially life threatening situation and we have the highest regards for your safety. This is a heartbreaking situation for us, so we ask that you please bear with us while we sort everything out. Full refunds will be available for those who purchased tickets in advance. Stay tuned for more instructions early next week.”

To compensate for the cancellation, a number of the scheduled artists will be performing at the indoor Haw River Ballroom, including BIG Something, Dangermuffin, The Hip Abduction and more. The indoor contingency event will run tonight and tomorrow night, and you can see the schedule below. More information can be found here.
