KaZantip is one of the wildest international dance festivals in the world. The nonstop rager took place on the Crimean Peninsula for over a decade before enduring several relocations in recent years due to political unrest in the region. The festival is known for 21 hours of endless music each day that goes on for multiple weeks in August and welcomes about 100,000 scantily clad or nude attendees from all over the world (see photos below…to be honest, we’re unsure if this is just the world’s biggest orgy disguised as a music fest).

Last year’s edition took place in Anaklia, Georgia, where they faced strong opposition and protests from the Greek Orthodox Church. Now, an attempted relocation to Koh Puos Island in Cambodia is facing similar obstacles, the very day gates were slated to open.

According to Dancing Astronaut, local Cambodian officials were very hesitant to let the festival go on in the first place, due to its extremely liberal nature and lack of regulations. Earlier this month, Cambodia’s Provincial Governor called it off, citing “indecency” in previous years.

The Governor later rescinded the ban, but this hasn’t stopped police from blocking the entrance to the festival grounds just as attendees prepared to embark on their journey.

KaZantip’s Facebook page attempts to offer some sort of an ambiguous explanation:
