Jimkata Splits With Bassist; Announces Tour and Will Record New Album

Electronically-influenced rockers Jimkata have released two major announcements today: the band is looking for fan support to record their newest album, and the new recording will not feature long-time Jimkata bassist Dave Rossi. Here’s a statement from Rossi about his departure from the band:

“With much sadness I regret to say I will no longer be continuing as Jimkata’s bass player. It is a difficult decision for everybody but I hope it allows Jimkata to pursue the truth and harmony that band deserves. I love each of these guys and our relationships are in jeopardy – if this split allows me to maintain my friendships with them then it’s well worth it. As some would say there is ancient history here – bottom line is the things you say are important, BUT what’s left unsaid can mean the world.

It has been the greatest privilege to perform in front of friends and fans who have turned into the best of friends. I cannot tell you the satisfaction I get walking out onto a darkly lit stage and seeing all of your smiling faces looking back in anticipation of the epic throw down that is about to commence. Our relationships and memories mean the world to me and I will never forget them. What we have all shared is truly special and unique and I know it is not the end. I have no doubt that Jimkata will do just fine without me; they are the most hardworking and passionate guys I have ever known. I hope they can reach the heights we’ve always dreamed of and make them into a reality. And I hope all you fans are there to see it!”

Jimkata has announced that Stephen Learson will be joining them on tour. Learson was formerly the bassist and keyboardist of The Indobox and producer of Psychic Spies. He will be joining the band on their upcoming tour, which kicks off February 20th with a performance in Syracuse, and runs through late April.

Founding member Evan Friedell said the following about the band’s current status:

“Combine the grind of being a touring rock and roll band and the challenges that come along with that with the natural changes that humans go through in their twenties and that’s what led us here. Dave was there for some truly formative years and incredible memories. We slept on a lot of floors together and played hundreds of shows in a spectrum of places we never thought we’d be around the country while finding our sound. He was a huge part of the formation of our relationship with our fans and we are incredibly grateful for his contribution and friendship. We wish him nothing but the best going into the future.

That being said, the music has a life of its own and we feel that we are looking at a bright future. We have been extremely busy creating what we feel will be our best album yet! Our studio sessions begin next week and we’re psyched to be including our awesome fans in the process via our Pledge Music Campaign. We’re also excited to bring Steve on board and to take our stage show to a whole new level. Steve is well versed as a musician and brings a new set of skills and fresh energy to the table. We’re honored to be at a point where we know people have favorite songs and high expectations and have never been more optimistic about the future.

The band is also hoping to release their new album with your support. Through a PledgeMusic campaign, anyone who pre-orders the album will also get access to an unreleased live recording. Higher donation levels will give access to signed CDs, signed set lists, and Jimkata’s first-ever vinyl release.
