Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has been making waves in the Grateful Dead community, as the tribute act led by the former Furthur drummer has played a number of highly impressive, wholeheartedly enjoyable concerts since their formation earlier this year. The band consists of Russo, pianist Marco Benevento, bassist Dave Dreiwitz, and guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton.

The band’s first festival set was at this year’s Gathering of the Vibes (Read the full review here), and they nailed it! The video below is a large chunk of that set, as JRAD worked through “Ruben & Cerise,” “Eyes of the World,” and reprises of “Supplication” and “Uncle John’s Band.” Watch the four continuous tracks below:

The band has some big plans in store, as they recently announced a Phil-RAD concert with Dead bassist Phil Lesh for New Years Eve, and will play two shows at the Brooklyn Bowl in January.
