John Fogerty was one of the featured guests on The Conan O’Brien Show last night, chatting about his recently-released biography Fortunate Son. The interview quickly turned into story time, as Fogerty regaled Conan and the late night audience with the memory of having to follow the Grateful Dead at Woodstock.
“Things went sorely wrong after they hit the stage… What they didn’t tell us until the 90s was they had all taken LSD just as they went on stage. About the middle of their set it went dead silent, I don’t really know what happened.”
Ironically, the Dead’s drummer Bill Kreutzmann told a similar story, but from his own perspective, on Conan not too long ago. You can watch that here.
