The master Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is getting the Netflix documentary treatment. Directed by Morgan Neville, who won an Academy Award for “20 Feet From Stardom” in 2014, the Richards documentary is sure to be a treat for fans of the band and the genre alike.

The film is titled Under The Influence, perhaps due to Richards’ well documented drug usage over the last several decades. It’s one of many reasons that Richards is an embodiment of rock and roll, considering his place beside Mick Jagger in one of the most successful and influential bands to ever grace the stage.

Neville commented about the film, saying “If there’s a Mount Rushmore of Rock & Roll, Keith’s face is surely on it… He has always represented the soul of rock music – for all of the light and dark shades that implies. To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man – full of humor, knowledge and wisdom. That’s the real Keith we’ve worked to capture in our film and I’m honored to bring it to a global audience via Netflix.”

The film’s release date is September 18th, the same as his first solo album in nearly 20 years, Crosseyed Heart. Listen to the leading single, “Trouble”, here. The documentary features interviews and goes behind the scenes to showcase Richards’ songwriting process and his extended legacy in rock and roll.

We’re looking forward to the new album and documentary coming out so soon!
