We know that drugs can cause problems at music festivals, but this is ridiculous.

Police concerns over drug use at the Summer Camp Music Festival are apparently getting out of hand, as people driving to the festival are being pulled over and searched on nearby roads. We’ve heard a few reports of this, including one from guitarist Keller Williams, who recently posted the following on his Facebook page:

WARNING: If you are traveling to and from summer camp in Chillicothe Illinois, be aware. We were just pulled over for doing 61 in a 55. The pullover spot was Strategically placed in a canine staging area. We were asked if we were going to summer camp. When we said yes, the dog was immediately rushed around our vehicle. We were let go with a warning to slow down. Just FYI. Kw.

Meanwhile, a report in the local Peoria Journal Star indicates just how serious the police are about preventing drug use at Summer Camp. One passage from that article states:

Camper contents cover car-length stretches of ditch as police remove a few days’ worth of outdoor living supplies, sleeping bags unraveled next to emptied coolers during attempted interdictions. K9 units are strategically placed for quick response to traffic stops, many for alleged infractions such as obstructed windshields so deemed from jewelry, a hemp necklace perhaps, dangling from the rear view mirror.

Whatever it may be, keep your eyes out for the police presence and stay safe out there!
