Old school funk and new school funk all under the same roof. That’s what All Good Records and founder Grant Kwicienski, better known as Griz, are up to these days. Centered in Detroit, the young label has been bringing together the spirit of Motown with all kinds of contemporary sounds. All Good Records most recent collaboration finds George Brown of funk pioneers Kool & The Gang remixing a song by The Floozies, “She Ain’t Yo Girlfriend.”

Says Floozies’ producer and guitarist Matt Hill, “One great thing about funk is you can’t fake it. That doesn’t stop people from trying but the best funk music comes from people who have dug deep into it.” Well, there’s no mistaking Kool & The Gang as the Real McCoy when it comes to funk music.
