In what is most certainly a controversial, yet fairly creative marketing move, Bavarian Radlers, a Dutch beer company, made a commercial depicting Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Tupac, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, and other deceased stars taking it easy on a private desert island, having the times of their lives. When an ocean liner comes close to the island, everyone goes stealth mode to make the island look like just another remote island in the ocean that continues to go uninhabited.
As Consequence of Sound points out, the proper licensing to depict the likenesses of some of the most famous deceased rock and Hollywood stars was probably not secured, and the commercial, in all likelihood, will get pulled. So check it out while it lasts, because it’s absoutely brilliant.
