Last Sunday night, premier funk band Lettuce settled in for a rocking performance at The Capitol Theatre, the famed Port Chester, NY venue. Lettuce’s return to the Cap came one day after the music world learned of Clyde Stubblefield’s death, as the legendary James Brown drummer passed away at the age of 73 from kidney failure. Stubblefield is well known as the “Funky Drummer,” who’s rhythm track from that James Brown song is among the most sampled in music.

It was drummer Adam Deitch who spoke about Stubblefield at the start of the second set, dedicating the performance to his memory. The show was a non-stop funk party from top to bottom, playing tunes from the length of their career for the fans in attendance. Lettuce was joined by longtime member Eric Krasno for the entire performance as well, only adding to the magic in the room.
