Our favorite funk ensemble Lettuce is taking the East Coast by storm in January, ending at The Capitol Theatre on Saturday, the 23rd with none other than the London Souls (tickets here). Port Chester, New York will house the final rage stage before they kick back into gear for the final push of their winter tour on the West Coast. There’s no better place to heat up than with two explosive sets of firey funk from the pioneers of modern, musical verbitude. By definition, their music swoops you into a priming mentality, ready to Rage, Fly, and Crush. Let them show you.

Lettuce, hotter than ever, has been bringing a new buoyancy to classic funk for the better part of twenty years. Their tight-gripped soulful grooves are freakishly complemented by a hip-hop-inspired decadence, equally drenched in a mastery of ever-flowing beat science. Locked and loaded by the driving forces of percussionist Adam Deitch and rhythmic bass-god Erick “Jesus” Coomes, glued together by the synthetic realness of keyboardist Neal Evans, irreplaceably fronted by guitarists Adam Smirnoff and Eric Krasno, and scrumptiously sprinkled together by the sonic freedom and infectious energy of The Shady Horns‘ saxophonist Ryan Zoidis and trumpeter Eric Bloom; together, the garden of Lettuce is one that grows with strength and mobility – a live experience not to be missed.

Having released their best record to date, Crush, and even coming out with their own movie, Let Us Play, all in 2015, we have sky-rocketing expectations for 2016. So far, they’ve already announced their own festival: Fool’s Paradise, with co-headlining support from GRiZ, Vulfpeck, and Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue ft. George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Nikki Glaspie, Eric Krasno, Neal Casal, & The Shady Horns, along with The Nth Power and Goldfish. Lettuce is an unstoppable force of nature, and any chance to see their incendiary live show in the beginning of what is to be the biggest year of their career should be taken immediately.
