2016 marks the 40th anniversary of The Band‘s legendary guest-filled final show, dubbed The Last Waltz, at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom. The performance was immortalized by a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary of the same name, which many point to as one of the greatest concert films of all time.

Today, late Band drummer/singer Levon Helm‘s longtime group the Midnight Ramble Band has announced a Last Waltz tribute show on August 6th at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY, The Band’s hometown. This intimate performance will feature special guests Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin, and will no doubt feel reminiscent of Helm’s famous Midnight Ramble parties at his Woodstock home. You can purchase tickets here.

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of yesterday’s news that the Ramble Band will play another tribute show in NYC a day earlier, on August 5th. The free anniversary celebration–part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors concert series–will celebrate The Last Waltz‘s 40th with a lineup featuring several performers from the original concert, including Dr. John, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Anderson East, Howard Johnson, and Ramble Band musical director Larry Campbell.

‘The Last Waltz’ 40th Anniversary Concert To Feature Original Performers

Over the course of the year, various artists have paid homage to the milestone with their own Last Waltz-themed shows, including an incredible tribute aftershow in New Orleans during Jazz Fest led by Warren Haynes and an upcoming all-star performance at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY in November featuring tribute masters like Joe RussoScott MetzgerDave Dreiwitz, and more.
